How to Apply for the Student Visa
To apply for a Student Visa, you must meet these basic criteria:
Course Enrollment: A Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE) from an Australian CRICOS-registered institution.
Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) valid for the duration of your stay.
Genuine Student Requirement: Demonstrate your genuine intention to study temporarily in Australia.
Additional Requirements:
Depending on your circumstances, the Department of Home Affairs may also request:
Proof of Financial Capacity: Show funds to cover tuition and living expenses for the first year, typically around AUD 30,000.
English Proficiency: For most courses, a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent in PTE, TOEFL, Cambridge) is required. If you’re applying for an English course, proof of English proficiency is not needed.
Medical Tests/Police Checks: These may be required based on your background and the length of your stay.

About Student Visa
The Student Visa (Subclass 500) is designed for international students who wish to study in Australia. It allows you to stay in the country for the duration of your course and offers the flexibility to work part-time while you study.
For short-term studies, you can also consider a tourist visa (up to 3 months) or a Work and Holiday visa (up to 4 months). However, if you plan to study for longer, the Student Visa is the ideal choice.
With this visa, you can:

Duration of Stay
The Student Visa allows you to remain in Australia for the length of your course, with additional time at the end for travel or planning your next steps. The extra time depends on the duration of your program:

Courses Less Than 10 Months: You will receive an additional 1 month after your course completion.

Courses 10 Months or Longer: You will receive an extra 2 months to wrap up your stay.

Cost Involved
The initial fees for a Student Visa include:
Visa Application Fee: Starts at AUD 1,600 (varies based on individual circumstances and dependents).
Course Deposit: Typically, the first term or semester fees, ranging from AUD 1,500 to 10,000 per term (depending on the course)
Health Insurance (OSHC): Must cover your entire visa duration and be paid upfront (on average $700 per year)
