Work and Holiday Visa

The Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 417 and 462) allows young travelers to enjoy an extended stay in Australia while working and exploring the country. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience Australian culture, gain work experience, and travel across breathtaking landscapes.

About Work & Holiday Visa

With this visa, you can:

  • do short-term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday

  • study for up to 4 months

  • travel to and from Australia as many times as you want

  • do 3 months of specified work to become eligible for a second Working Holiday visa

You can do any kind of work on this visa.

Usually you can only work for the same employer for max 6 months. 

Duration of Stay

Stay in Australia for up to 12 months (renewable for up to 3 years if eligibility criteria are met).

Working Holiday Visa (417)

You must:

  • Be at least 18 but not yet 31 years of age

  • Have a passport from: Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland

  • Have enough money to support yourself (about AUD 5000)

Work and Holiday (462)

You must:

  • Be at least 18 but not yet 31 years of age

  • Have a passport from: Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, USA, Uruguay, Vietnam.

  • Have enough money to support yourself (about AUD 5000)

  • Meet the educational requirements

  • Have functional English
